CISV Waterloo is hosting a Village this summer! It takes a village to host a village, so we want to keep you updated with the latest information and also let you know of opportunities to get involved. If you have any specific hosting questions, please direct them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you like to cook and are up for the challenge of feeding 60+ people for a month this summer, please check out the job description that outlines the necessary qualifications and role responsibilities. Please contact email@example.com for more information.
As part of the Village experience, the kids go home with local families to experience what life is like here. This is your chance to extend Canadian hospitality to some terrific kids from all over the world! We are in need of families for homestays over the course of two separate weekends:
Saturday, August 3rd - Monday, August 5th (host a delegation of 4 including pick up from ?(tbd), drop off at Village in Elora)
Friday, August 16th - Sunday August 18th (host 2 children from different countries, pick up and drop off at Village in Elora)
You can sign up for just one of the weekends, or both! If you are interested in hosting, please ensure you have a police check completed for every adult who lives in the home, including children over the age of 18. This must be done before we can guarantee you a home stay. All police checks should be in by May 31st.

Did you know CISV Waterloo raises funds each year in order to ensure we receive invitations to travel? Village, Step Up, Youth Meeting, Interchange, Seminar... none of these programs would be available to Waterloo youth if we didn't take our turn hosting programs every three out of four years. The average cost of hosting a program in Waterloo Region is over $40,000. We are hosting a Village this year and are hoping to raise $10,000 above our usual fundraising to help offset the costs. There are several opportunities to contribute to our chapter needs.
Overall Fundraising Thermometer
We are looking for new items to auction off for an online auction fundraiser this spring so start tucking away tickets, vouchers, SWAG and other new items you would like to donate to this new event.
Gifts in Kind
Running a Village takes a lot of items. We will be putting out calls for new or gently used items such as sheets, tea towels, craft items, lice treatment shampoos, and other items over the next few months so if you are cleaning out your linen closet or craft table please put these items aside for our Village this summer.
2019 Donor Drive
We are currently accepting donations to help pay for the camp costs, such as rental of the facility, food, transportation, and staff training. All staff and organizers are 100% volunteers, so your donation will go directly to supporting the camp.
e-transfer to firstname.lastname@example.org
Cheques can be made out to CISV Waterloo, and mailed to: Treasurer, CISV Waterloo 214 Glasgow St, Kitchener, Ontario N2M 2M4
Please include a note directing the funds to Village 2019
Our regular fundraising programs are uniquely positioned to help offset your child’s travel costs and support the chapter at the same time! Check out our fundraising page to see the many ways you can participate.
Currently, CISV Waterloo is a not for profit so no tax receipts can be issued at this point but we are working on it. Originally CISV Waterloo had charitable status but when we became CISV Canada the charitable status went with them. For many years the National organization was able to issue receipts on our behalf but tax rules changed and they are no longer able to do so. We are working on getting our charitable status back and hope to be able to issue tax receipts in the next few months.
